Da Pode is history. Beyond being the hotel’s restaurant, it’s the beating heart of the Failli family, the place where it all began. It first opened in the 1980s, and it was here that the journey started that eventually led to Hotel Sovestro and everything we offer our guests today.
Always run personally by our family, Da Pode is the place where we want good food to feel like a memory of home, of family: Alessia handles breakfast preparation and helps Mamma Lucia in the kitchen, Barbara looks after the dining room, and Sergio is always there, ready for anything, from the till to preparing tartare right at the table.
The recipes have been passed down through generations, jealously guarded by Mamma Lucia. Some have tried to uncover a few of her secrets (us included, from time to time), but it’s not an easy task!

At Da Pode, we work with top-quality, local, zero-kilometre products.
We make fresh pasta in house every day, from ravioloni to hand-rolled pici. Our meat comes from non-intensive farms, trusted suppliers we’ve worked with for years. Truffle, porcini mushrooms and saffron are all locally sourced.
Our menu features the great classics of Tuscan tradition. But it changes with the seasons, because we work with whatever the land offers at the right time of year.
The restaurant in San Gimignano with the right atmosphere
The restaurant’s three indoor dining rooms were once the farm’s stable, and still feature old farming tools on the walls, giving the space a warm, rustic feel. There’s also the small Madonna statue from the stable, which has always been there, part of our family’s history.
When the weather allows, dinner moves to the outdoor terrace, surrounded by greenery and, in summer, the evening breeze, for an even more memorable experience.
