Three generations ago, the Failli family chose to open this land to travellers, weaving together farming and hospitality to build a long story made of hard work and sacrifice, but above all, of love.

The Failli Family and the origins of Hotel Sovestro

Our hospitality comes from the Failli family tradition, deeply rooted in San Gimignano. Today, Alessia and Barbara run the hotel with the same dedication as their parents, Sergio and Lucia, and grandfather Alfredo, known as Pode, and carry forward a legacy of hospitality and genuine care for every guest.

Born in the early 1990s from the renovation of a Tuscan farmhouse, Hotel Sovestro has grown over the years to offer every modern comfort: two pools, a gym, free Wi-Fi and rooms with private gardens. Today, it’s a well-established destination for anyone looking for a complete, relaxing experience in Tuscany.

The hotel is part of a family-run ecosystem that also includes Ristorante Da Pode and the neighbouring Tenuta Sovestro. Here, we bring together hotel comfort, traditional cuisine and closeness to nature, in harmony with the hills surrounding San Gimignano.

The story of a family is the story of a place

Hotel Sovestro is less than 2 km from San Gimignano, set within a pine park, just steps from vineyards and olive groves. Via Vecchia, a scenic route through the countryside leading into town, starts just 30 metres from the hotel.

This is a land that carries centuries of history. San Gimignano was once a stop along the Via Francigena, the great medieval route that crossed Europe. Pilgrims, merchants and travellers walked these same roads back in the Middle Ages, and in many ways, the landscape hasn’t changed all that much.
